Legal guide
Is SIM Owner Detail Legal in Pakistan?
Short answer: you can legally check SIM details about your own CNIC, but no website can legally show you a stranger's name, CNIC or address from their phone number.
What PECA 2016 says
The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 makes it an offence to obtain, sell or share someone's identity information without authorisation. Mobile subscriber records are held by operators under PTA licence conditions and may only be disclosed to authorised law-enforcement agencies through legal process.
Why "SIM database" and "live tracker" sites are illegal or scams
- Sites that do show real names and CNICs are using leaked data — publishing or using it can be a crime.
- Many others show fake or random results to earn ad money.
- Some ask for payment or your own CNIC and then misuse it.
What is legal
- Checking how many SIMs are on your own CNIC by sending it to 668 or visiting cnic.sims.pk.
- Checking which network a number belongs to via MNP to 667 or N + number to 76367.
- Disowning SIMs you didn't register at your operator's franchise.
