Many people search for how to check SIM owner name in Pakistan after getting a strange call, a scam message or a missed call from an unknown number. It is a normal question. But the answer is not what most websites tell you. In Pakistan, SIM owner details are private data. Only the SIM owner, the mobile operator and the authorities can see them. This guide explains the legal methods that actually work in 2026, what each one shows, and what to do if you need help with an unknown number.
Can you legally check a SIM owner name in Pakistan?
The short answer: you can check details about your own SIMs, but you cannot legally look up another person's name, CNIC or address. Every SIM in Pakistan is registered against a CNIC with biometric (fingerprint) verification. That data is protected under PTA rules and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016. Sharing or selling it is a crime.
This is why websites that promise "live SIM owner details" are either fake or use leaked data. Using them can put you at risk too. You can read more in our page on whether SIM owner detail checks are legal.
Legal methods: how to check SIM owner name in Pakistan for your own SIMs
If you want to confirm which SIMs are registered in your name, PTA gives you free and simple tools.
1. SMS your CNIC to 668
Open your messages app and type your 13-digit CNIC number without dashes. Send it to 668. In a few seconds, you get a reply that shows how many SIMs are registered on your CNIC with each operator (Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone and others). This is the fastest method and works from any network.
2. Use the PTA website cnic.sims.pk
Visit cnic.sims.pk, enter your CNIC number, fill in the captcha and press submit. The page shows the number of active SIMs per operator. Our full PTA SIM Information System guide explains each step with tips.
3. Call your operator helpline
Your operator can confirm the name a SIM is registered to, but only if you are the owner and you pass their security checks. Helplines are: Jazz 111, Zong 310, Telenor 345 and Ufone 333.
4. Visit a franchise or customer service centre
Take your original CNIC to any official franchise. After a fingerprint check, staff can show you all numbers on your CNIC and help you block ones you do not recognise.
What if a stranger is calling you?
If an unknown number is harassing or scamming you, do not try to find the owner yourself. Instead:
- Block the number on your phone right away.
- Save evidence: screenshots of messages, call logs and dates.
- Report to your operator using their helpline.
- Complain to PTA at complaint.pta.gov.pk or call 0800-55055.
- For fraud or threats, contact the cybercrime helpline 1799 (NCCIA).
The authorities can legally trace the owner and take action. Our guide on how to report SIM fraud in Pakistan walks you through the full process.
Why "SIM owner name check" websites are risky
You may see sites and apps that ask you to type any number and claim to show the owner's name, CNIC and address. Here is the problem:
- Most show fake or random data to get ad clicks.
- Some use old leaked databases, which is illegal to share or use.
- Many collect your number and data to sell or spam you later.
Using leaked personal data can make you part of a crime under PECA 2016, even if you only "searched". Stay with the official methods above.
What you can see vs what you cannot
| Information | Your own SIMs | Someone else's SIM |
|---|---|---|
| Number of SIMs on CNIC | Yes (668, cnic.sims.pk) | No |
| Registered name | Yes (operator, franchise) | No |
| CNIC and address | Already yours | No — private data |
| Network of a number | Yes | Yes (network only) |
As you can see, the only detail you can check for another person's number is its network. Read how to check which network a mobile number belongs to for that.
Found a SIM you do not recognise on your CNIC?
If 668 or cnic.sims.pk shows more SIMs than you use, act quickly. Someone may be using a SIM in your name, which can link you to crimes you did not commit. Visit your operator's franchise with your CNIC and ask them to block the unknown number. Our step-by-step guide on how to block an unknown SIM on your CNIC explains exactly what to say and bring.
Quick summary
To check SIM owner name in Pakistan legally, use your own CNIC with 668 or cnic.sims.pk, or contact your operator as the verified owner. For unknown callers, block, save evidence and report to PTA or 1799. Never trust sites that promise to reveal other people's private details — they are fake, illegal or both.
