Every active SIM in Pakistan must be biometrically verified, which means it is linked to the owner's CNIC using fingerprints. If your SIM is not verified, it can be blocked at any time. In this guide you will learn how to check SIM biometric verification status online and through your operator, with a simple per-operator table at the end.

What is SIM biometric verification?

Biometric verification means your SIM was issued after matching your fingerprint with NADRA's records. Pakistan made this compulsory for all SIMs in 2015. Today, no new SIM can be issued without it. Verification protects you: it makes it much harder for someone to get a SIM in your name without your fingerprint.

How to check SIM biometric verification status online

There is no separate "verified / not verified" button online, but the official PTA tools tell you the same thing. If a SIM appears against your CNIC in PTA records, it is registered and verified in your name.

Method 1: SMS your CNIC to 668

Type your 13-digit CNIC number without dashes and send it to 668. The reply shows how many SIMs are registered on your CNIC with each operator. If your SIM's network shows a count, your SIMs on that network are verified against your CNIC.

Method 2: Use cnic.sims.pk

Go to cnic.sims.pk, enter your CNIC and the captcha, and submit. You will see the active SIM count per operator. See our PTA SIM Information System guide for detailed steps.

Method 3: Ask your operator

Call your operator's helpline from the SIM you want to check. After confirming you are the owner, they can tell you whether the SIM is biometrically verified on your CNIC.

Signs your SIM may not be verified

  • You get an SMS from your operator asking you to "re-verify" your SIM.
  • The SIM is in someone else's name (for example, a family member bought it).
  • Your SIM does not show under your CNIC on 668 or cnic.sims.pk.
  • Calls and data suddenly stop working with a "SIM blocked" message.

How to get your SIM biometrically verified

  1. Take your original, valid CNIC to the operator's franchise or customer service centre.
  2. Tell staff you want to verify or re-verify your SIM.
  3. Place your finger on the biometric device. It checks your fingerprint with NADRA.
  4. Once matched, you get a confirmation SMS.

If the SIM is in another person's name, they must come with you so ownership can be transferred. See how to transfer SIM ownership in Pakistan.

Fingerprint not matching?

Older people and manual workers sometimes have worn fingerprints. Try a different finger, clean and dry your hands, and ask staff to retry. If it still fails, you may need to update your fingerprints at a NADRA office. Our troubleshooting section covers more fixes.

Stay safe

Never let a stranger use your fingerprint "for a quick check" at a street stall. Fraudsters have used this trick to issue extra SIMs on other people's CNICs. Check your SIM count on 668 every few months, and block anything you do not recognise. Our guide on blocking an unknown SIM on your CNIC explains how.

Summary

To check SIM biometric verification status, use 668 or cnic.sims.pk to confirm your SIMs appear on your CNIC, or call your operator from the SIM. If a SIM is not verified, visit a franchise with your CNIC to verify it with your fingerprint. Have more questions? Visit our FAQs.

In short, SIM verification in Pakistan is confirmed when the SIM appears on your CNIC through 668 or cnic.sims.pk, backed by NADRA fingerprint records.
